How would a car insurance company know if i had a claim on previous insurance policy?

As above, i claimed on my existing car insurance policy about 2 years a go now. When getting new quotes they ask if i’ve had any claims in the past 3 years (which i have). But just wondering how would my new insurance company know either way if i put ‘no claims’. Surely if they were all on one database they wouldnt be asking me in the first place?! Would they check for any reason? And what would happen if i was found out? Thanks.

Help with renewing car insurance when buying a new car very soon?

My car insurance is due for renewal in the next couple of weeks but in June we were planning on buying a new car. What is the best way to deal with this situation? If I buy new insurance, do I just transfer it across to a new car and pay extra if it costs more? Will I have to stick to the same insurance company because a different car may cost a lot more to insure with them?

What is the time limitation on car insurance claims in VA?

A car wrongfully hit mine in a parking lot. At the time, I didn’t have insurance so that automatically makes it my fault? Well, this happened in August of 2006 and their insurance company is trying to call me to get paid. What is the statute of limitations on this? Also they have my name spelled wrong, so can they really find me?

Can I cancel my car insurance if the third party is making a claim?

Hi. I was involved in an accident in december 2007, I have informed my insurance company and have not claimed as there was no personal injury or damage to my car. The third party is claiming whiplash. I want to sell my car and cancel my insurance. Can i do this at anytime or do i have to wait until the whiplash claim has been settled? please help.

My car got vandalized this morning and someone broke my backside window. (Not the big one but the small triangular window that does not slide down. Will my insurance company cover for the damage or do I have to pay out of my pocket? How much will it cost for that tiny window?
