I have Progressive car insurance. I got the ticket in Missouri for 14 MPH over the limit (44 MPH in a 30 MPH zone).
If I just pay the fine (.00) and take the points (4 points), how much will my car insurance rates go up?

It should be against the law since everyone must carry car insurance. Also, what does my low credit score got to with my great driving record? Sounds like another reason to raise rates because most credit scores are low across the board. If someone pays their insurance company on time and has a good driving record should be their only concerns. Doesn’t that make sense to raise car insurance rates to persons that had a hard time paying a bill, bit made all their car insurance payments on time. If there are others out there mad about this issue please help me do something about this robbing…

A family member is getting ready to get their license, and I wanted to know if car insurance rates would go up, and what a likely rate would be.

I have heard that accidents and tickets will affect car insurance rates for five years. I was in an accident four years ago, that was determined to be my fault. Now, my (old) insurance company just settled this claim. Is this going to affect my rates for five years from the settlement date or from the date of the accident?

I was with the same insurance company for 10 years using the same local agent. My car insurance rates kept going up every time my policy was renewed. I decided to explore and see what better rates I could get with other car insurance companies. Friends and family gave me names of local agents from insurance companies they used. All the agents quoted me really high. Then, I called a major insurance company’s 800 number (not through an agent) and got the lowest quote. So, why do people use insurance agents? Is there a reason why it’s better to use an agent?

I moved from Ohio to Oklahoma and my car insurance rates went way up. Now I’m moving to Florida. I was just curious how Florida rates and if my insurance will be more or less expensive there? Thank you!

A coworker once told me that once you’re labeled as a homeowner, your car insurance rates go up b/c you can be sued for your house. Is there any truth to this? If it matters, I live in NY.

I am looking to buy a new car. It is a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. I live in Wisconsin, am 29, and have an excellent driving record. I need full coverage, and called my insurance agent (Progressive- which I’ve been with for over 12 years) and they said, for an average, about $500 every 6 months. Is this a little high or is this about average. Are there any other car insurance companies that might offer better rates?

Haven’t had a car accident in over 10 years, but I did have a spill on my bike ruled my fault recently. Will this affect my car insurance at all? It hasn’t yet, but I’m about to switch insurance companies and get a new car. I also no longer have a motorcycle.
Oh, I should add that this happened longer ago than I thought. Back in January. My car insurance has NOT gone up. I’m just worried that shopping for NEW insurance they’ll see it and it will affect things.
