Question by crizzy u: How long do car accidents affect my insurance rates?
I have heard that accidents and tickets will affect car insurance rates for five years. I was in an accident four years ago, that was determined to be my fault. Now, my (old) insurance company just settled this claim. Is this going to affect my rates for five years from the settlement date or from the date of the accident?

Answer by ad59 Although the time affecting your premium varies from insurer to another, it is usually three years; and the effects tkes place from the time the body shop claims the payment for the repair to your car.

I’m just looking for some quotes at the moment. To narrow it down: I’ve been driving for 4 yrs. No accidents. Gieco, State Farm, and All State are not available in my area. Anyone have any experience with any other good car insurance agency?
I’m going to be 18 soon and my parents have told me they’d like me to find my own car insurance rather than being on theirs. I’ve been driving for 9 months and I haven’t gotten any tickets or been in any accidents, and I’ll get that good-student discount where available. But what insurance companies do you recommend that won’t absolutely kill my part-time paycheck?
Thanks!
Good point about what my parents are required to do, but I won’t be living in their household anymore, so they won’t be required to include me on the insurance.
I have recently fallen into hard credit rating times due to a recently failed business of mine. I need to shop around for new car insurance and other than the bad credit would normally get a great rate (no tickets, accidents, 30+, decent salary). I’ve heard mention of certain car insurance companies that will not pull your credit rating. Know of any?
Women are worse on the cell phones, applying make up when driving, and young teenage girls all jamming out to jonas brothers and not paying attention. Im 22 (male) with no accidents and drive a sports car (cobalt super charged) and my insurance is 180.00 a month. I have no points, but a girl my age with same scenario would only be 110.00. HOW IS THAT FAIR?????? And yes i have searched other companies and its the same story.
I am planing to buy a chavy blazer 2001 used car. I know I will need full coverage insurance. I am a good driver, haven’t have any accidents or traffic violations. How much would the car insurance cost in North Carolina?
i’m planning to buy a car next year.
it will cost around 11000 and i’m planning to downpay 5000.
so 6000 left.
and my dad wants to pay that 6000 with his credit card so he can put the car under liability instead of full coverage.
our family has 2 cars each under my parents’ names.
so what is the best way to lower the insurance for me
i’m 21 yrs old guy no accidents or tickets.
our insurance company said it would be about 1600/yr for me..
is that average?
is there a way to lower the insurance?
Living in South Jersey. 2 years with a license. No accidents/ tickets. GPA 3.0+. Good credit score. For a used car newer than 2003. I just need a rough estimate. I don’t want some insurance agent to call me for an quote or get random e-mails from insurance companies, right now before I buy a car.
