look at your policy check or property damage coverage
How much property insurance on your auto insurance policy and how much damage on the house ?
Yes, you should be covered for damages to the house but not to your own car
Well, how MUCH liability do you have? Your property damage liability will pay for any damage you do to someone else’s property, up to the limit of coverage.
Depending on how much damage you did to the house, you very well might not have enough coverage, to pay for the damages.
Obviously, damage to your car, is not covered.
Yes, you should be covered if you are carrying liability insurance coverage at the time you hit the said house. The question here is how much in total dollar figures are the damages to the house worth? New York has the 25/50/10 rule; the last figure means your liability insurance should at least carry $10,000 that covers for any property damage you cause. Hopefully you’re carrying more than that, especially if the total damages exceed that $10K minimum limit. You should check with your insurer right away.
Also it’s just worth mentioning that since you only have liability insurance you’ll probably have to shoulder the costs of any damages or needed repairs on your vehicle. Comprehensive insurance usually takes care of that, but you might know that already.
Hope this helps!
