How much will my car insurance go up? Should I just fix my car out of pocket?

I backed up into a rock today and I will need a new bumper. I have a 2009 Rav 4 Sport. I’m wondering how much this will cost if I fix it out of pocket without claiming it? And if I do claim it and pay the 0 deductible, how much will my car insurance go up? I haven’t had an accident over the past 7yrs.

If you can afford to fix it out of pocket, that’d be the way to go. Get some estimates from reputable body shops. It may be as simple as painting and replacing the bumper or they may have to do work on the undercarriage.
If your insurance company has to pay money, they’ll make you pay it back though higher premiums. Besides, insurance isn’t for the small things, it’s for the big things.
Go and get several estimates. It is possible that they can repair the bumper which would most likely cost around what your deductible is or a little more. Shops want to make money so they always tell you that the bumper needs to be replaced even when the damage is minor, so go to someone you trust. If the repairs are just a little over your deductible, I would just pay out of pocket.
