How long does it take for a car insurance adjuster to give you a damage estimate?

I have my car rear ended in a parking lot. There isn’t a lot of damage but a good size dent. The other parties insurance company contacted me and I’m suppost to meet with a guy today to give me a damage estimate on my vehicle. They told me I could pick any body shop i wanted to get the car fixed. How long will it take him to look over my vehicle and give me the check to get it fixed?

so I guess the answer is: how would we know, we are here and you are there.
usually the adjuster will tell you the estimate they give for the damage then you get a check with in a week.it depends on the agency that is paying you for the damage.you should take your car to a few different body shops and get estimates and then tell the others insurance company the estimate you got.usually other insurance will go the cheapest route.

What happened to me was I took my car to the body shop and had the check sent there. I was only out of a car for 3 days!

they are usually pretty quick about it. I have had an estimate done and work begin within 24 hours. They did not give me the check though. It went straight to the repair shop.
