I was recently rear-ended in my car. There were no injuries to either party, just a little paint chipped, my bumper pushed in slightly, and my trunk lid sprung. How should i go about geting appraisals performed? Should i get my appraisals from higher end body shops to ensure a larger check? this is my first insurance claim and i have no idea how this stuff works!! Please help!

A collision is not to be confused with a lottery ticket. Either the insurance company will send an estimator out to write an estimate on the damages, or they will send you to a shop that is on their direct repair program and they will write an estimate on the damages to the car. The amount of the check is correlated to the severity of the damages, not to what you think you should get. There are no tricks to getting a bigger check. I will never understand why people think a car accident is the equivalent to a lottery ticket
