Maybe I don’t understand the purpose of an instruction permit…shouldn’t you have been driving with an instructor? I didn’t think you could drive alone with one.

If you are driving illegally, insurance won’t cover you in most states. If you are driving alone with instruction permit, you’re driving illegally and you won’t be covered.

Does your permit require you to have a licensed driver with you while driving? If so, the insurance probably won’t pay since you will be considered an unlicensed driver. The owner of the vehicle will be responsible for the costs and possibly cited into court for allowing an unlicensed driver to operate their vehicle.

Depends. Are you in a no fault state? Does your policy have an absolute exclusion for non-listed drivers?

I’ve seen it go both ways. But I CAN tell you, if you’re driving on just a permit, whoever owns the policy, is going to have two choices after your accident – flat out exclude you from coverage, or get their policy cancelled. Then they’ll end up with a high risk policy, and you WILL be flat out excluded.

See, if you get in an accident driving alone on a permit, you won’t be ALLOWED to get your license for at least a year, or until you turn 18, whichever is LATER.

You broke the law and you ought to lose your permit for a while! In Texas, they probably would arrested your PARENTS for allowing you to drive illegally!

You need to call your insurance agent or broker as soon as you get this and let THEM tell you if you are covered. It all depends on your State’s requirements!

Now…..start obeying the law before you end up being someone’s roomie IN JAIL!

Depends a lot on the insurance company and the policy on the vehicle and what state your residing in. As to driving alone with a permit that also becomes a factor as well as the type of car accident. To many factors to actually give you a difinative answer because there’s no enough information for me to be more specific. sorry.

Yes, if your an authorized user on the policy. The insurance will cover the other parties medical and vehicle damage. If you had any injuries I would take advantage of your medical rider. The medical rider generally will cover $5000 worth of medical expenses, ie. emergency room, chiropractor, etc. Hope your all right.
