they stay on 3 -5 yrs depending on where you live. all companies have access to your driving record, so switching companies is not gonna get you “off the hook” so to speak. some companies rates may be lower though, so even with the points you may find it cheaper if you look around

Nope, insurance companies look 3-5 years back. Any accidents, losses or moving violations will count no matter what company you switch to.

Insurance companies look back at least 3 years, 5 years for more serious offenses, and some actually look back 7 if it’s something very serious like vehicular manslaughter. But usually they will ask about anything in the past 3 years.
