I just bought SR-22 liability car insurance yesterday for $165 which covers the first month. It was needed in order for me to get my license reinstated after a DUI. So i go to the DMV with my proof of insurance hoping to get my license back but find that my license is suspended still(for another 3 months). So now i have no use for the insurance that i just bought. Will i be able to get my money back?

probably not, most companies will charge a cancellation fee
Your best bet is to ask your insurance agent. If they are willing to refund it at all, they will probably want to pro-rate it (charge you a per-day rate)for the days you were insured — that’s only fair since they were providing insurance for those days even if you weren’t able to use it.
If they won’t do that, you might also ask them to just change the “effective date” to the day your license will be reinstated. Then they don’t have to refund your money; you just won’t be insured until that date.
Be polite, be transparent, and be very clear about why you need this, and they may very well do what you need.
HTH,
If you cancel the policy flat, meaning cancel it the date you started it, you should get your full refund back.
