A question from earthling: How much money does car insurance go up per year after an accident that is your own fault?
My wife and I just had an accident in a parking lot in which we backed into another car that had almost completely backed out already. No one was hurt, but the damage caused by our car is between $ 1,000 and $ 1,500. We will not have the damage to our car repaired. This accident is our fault; however, both of us have had a completely perfect driving record up until now. We just want to know how much this accident is going to make our insurance go up.

Answer by intelligent_friendlistener Usually 5 percent for 5 to 10 years depending on the company. But – a good company will credit you with many years of good driving. I had no tickets and no claims for 35 years and got a letter saying I cannot be cancelled for any reason – ever – even if I decide to ram someone. Ask your agent most are close to the same so if you have enough “perfect” years maybe you will not get any penalty.

Answer by mbrcatz You mean a business insurance policy, and a personal insurance policy? The declarations page will say “personal auto policy” or “commercial auto policy”.
As far as the insurance card goes, if it’s in the name of a corporation, it’s a business insurance policy. If it’s an individual, it might be business but it’s probably personal.

A question from Misty: How important is it to have Medical Expenses added to your car insurance policy?
I was told to reduce my monthly car insurance payments a little I could remove that. I was told that your medical insurance would kick in to pay for any injuries, or if someone was with you theirs would kick in. They said that car insurance would be a secondary to your medical insurance. Has anyone ever got good use out of having this on their insurance policy??

Answer by the_donut_2004 I don’t know, I’ve never been in a situation like that. I would call a lawyer and see what is possible. May even be able to sue the company for not holding up their end of the bargain.

If you don’t know what kindof car you’re getting yet, make up a car. Most companies can get you a quote if you just pick a year, make and model. Get a generic quote from one of them with like a 1998 Ford Taurus or something. – I do it for people all the time

A few months ago I got into an accident, and the driver was driving a rental car with no insurance. Technically I was at fault for the accident and got the ticket. The damage to the car wasn’t too bad but still comes to over 2,000 dollars. I have Allstate insurance, but I do not know if it’s full coverage. If it is, will they cover the bill? Thanks.

Answer by Howard L Your insurance always pays for the damage to the other car if you’re at fault. Full coverage pays for damage to your car if you’re at fault. Rental cars by the way always come with the states minimum liability coverage.
