A question asked by Markus L: What happens if accidently I gave false information to my car insurance during the application process?
I was under the impression that my 2003 car had ABS (anti lock braking system) because my car dealer told me so, I bought it used. Accordingly during the online application for my car insurance I said that my car has an ABS System. Pretty soon after that I discovered that my car does not have such a system. I would like to inform my insurance because I do not want to have problems in case there is an accident. But will they cancel my insurance if I tell them the truth?

Top answer:

Answer by ZCT
There is no reason for them to cancel your policy. They may raise the premium a shade, but that’s it.

You need to contact them ASAP, because if you get in an accident, they could refuse to pay out.

Question posed by Carlos: How dos US car insurance work compared to english car insurance?
I’m looking to get a bmw x5 but insurance is £9000k a year like $ 13000k
I heard they do it different so its easier to get bigger cars. In england they don’t allow young drivers to get big cars so the insurance is expensive

How dos us car insurance work

No 1 answer:

Answer by Elliot Lee
Us car insurance is basically the same, but again, it depends on what your provider is. In england, the rules are probably stricter because of different laws.

Question posed by Mokaddasa: How do I find out my car insurance rates before I get a car?
I haven’t bought a car yet because a lot depends on how much insurance will be. I’m a 27 single female living in Boston, I’ve had a license since 18 but never drove so it expired and I recently renewed it. I don’t have anything on my record. I would be the only person on the insurance. I went online but they required the make and year of your car to calculate the rates.

The top answer:

Answer by A Very Helpful Guy
Hello,

Yes, the rates you pay for car insurance do depend on a lot of factors:

Age
City, State
How many previous accidents you’ve had
Year of vehicle
Make of vehicle

The best thing you can do is actually call up a few of your local car insurance companies and get some ballpark figures. The important thing is, is to find one that you like and trust and who gives you a decent quote.

Your next step would be to go to a car dealership, take the number of the insurance companies who quoted you the best prices along and find a car that you like and can afford. After you take it for a test drive and get as much information as you can such as if it’s being sold “as is” or comes with some sort of warranty etc…

Before any money changes hands or you sign any paperwork at the dealership, call the insurance company from the dealership. Give them the specifics of the car. They will then be able to give you a correct insurance quote.

If it’s a reasonable quote for you, by the car. If not, find out what year/make of car from the insurer would make the payments lower and ask the salesperson if they have any of those on the lot.

Even when you do obtain insurance, don’t be afraid to then further call around or check online for cheaper rates. You can always switch after you obtain the insurance.

I hope this helps you. I wish you good luck in getting a car and insurance.

Question posed by ?skyblue: What’s the difference between dealing with a car insurance company directly or a local agent?
I was with the same insurance company for 10 years using the same local agent. My car insurance rates kept going up every time my policy was renewed. I decided to explore and see what better rates I could get with other car insurance companies. Friends and family gave me names of local agents from insurance companies they used. All the agents quoted me really high. Then, I called a major insurance company’s 800 number (not through an agent) and got the lowest quote. So, why do people use insurance agents? Is there a reason why it’s better to use an agent?

Most detailed answer:

Answer by a-mac
I like using an agent because if I have a question, I call the same person or I go to their office and sit across the desk from them. I don’t have to call India and then give up and research answers online and hope for the best. I don’t like the way big companies dismiss the need for customer service!

What are my options for rental car insurance?

A question asked by Kevin Chisholm: What are my options for rental car insurance?
I am renting a car for one month from Hertz. Their insurance is very expensive (at $ 25 per day, it adds $ 900 to my costs). I have already asked my credit card company if they offer auto insurance for a rental car. Do you have any suggestions on other options for inusuring a rental car for one month?
I do not own a car, so I do not have any personal auto insurance. This rental will be in the United States.

The top answer:

Answer by oklatom
With the rental company you have two options, take it or refuse it.

Talk to your insurance agent about a rider which would cover any at fault accident you would have with a rental car for a month. They may have suggestions.
